Specimen banknotes are, in general, much rarer currencies than pieces for circulation, and rarely come in packs or bulk quantities. Naturally, their mintages were much smaller than those of currency intended for circulation. In the case of this denomination, the mintage was most likely 1,000 pieces (read more about the designs on our site here).
Designs of PRL banknotes after 1974 came out on the collector market thanks to the sale to numismatic companies of these denominations from the second half of the 1990s until Poland's entry into the EU 2004. This does not mean that the entire stock was distributed in this way at that time, as there was little interest in them in those years, and only numismatic businesses could be recipients (in February 2003 there were only 8 such businesses).
At that time, the bulk of the currencies were valued on the basis of the still exchangeable face value. Naturally, thanks to this, a lot of lower denomination values from the cheapest valued vintage of a large issue - 1979 - came out to the market (e.g., patterns of 2,000 1979 were still quite common today).
Higher denominations, such as 100k, for example, were bought in small quantities due to their price. They were practically unheard of in packages.
It is possible that the packet of 100 pieces of 100 tys banknote patterns offered in this auction is the only such one present on the collector's market. At the same time, it is an original package of these patterns, which includes pieces with consecutive own numbers from 0401 to 0500.
All in the original banderole, and judging by the state of preservation - only one bill from the interior, the piece numbered 0421 is noticeably kinked and creased (probably by inattention). On several others noticeable minor, generally single corns within the margins, and otherwise states of preservation without remarks.
This parcel is worth considering both from a collector's point of view, as perhaps the only such whole present on the collector's market, as well as from the perspective of a long-term investment or commercial purchase (currently, prices for single specimens of this type are around 600-700 zloty apiece).
We strongly recommend.
