Priest, later Bishop Jan Stupnicki is a significant figure among Polish numismatists of the 19th century. We sold the auction catalog of his collection in Auction 17, item 2364, and it illustrates well how rich a collection Father J. Stupnicki managed to accumulate.
The auction of Bishop J. Stupnitsky's collection took place in 1896, the subject of the present offering is an early work by Rev. Stupnitsky - a separate "reprint" from the "Literary Diary" of the study entitled "The Crown Denarii of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Crowns ". "Crown denarii of the 14th and 15th centuries - a paragraph from Polish numismatics".
A very rare item - the first time we see this publication from the trade. At the same time, a very unusual subject for Polish numismatic journalism of the 19th century, treating of very unimpressive denarii of the 14th and 15th centuries.
Pages 32 and one plate - inset reversed behind the title page.
Title page slightly soiled, otherwise interior in very good, natural state of preservation, with only a few gaps.
Paste binding of the period, in treated cloth and paper, both in black. On the spine remains of a paper signboard.
On the pre-title page dry stamp of W. Chominski and handwritten information about the purchase" "bought for 2 [illegible] 15/11 1923".
Great rarity.
