add Your note
Lot description Show orginal version

The first monographic study of the coins of the Polish Middle Ages. Written in a very clear and pleasant to read, hand-colored language. Despite the fact that the work is nearly 200 years old, it is still largely up to date. A great asset of this pioneering work is that it is based on a detailed analysis of excavations, on the basis of which conclusions are drawn about the attribution and dating of coins. The years of research on Polish medieval minting that have passed since the publication of this first work by Kaźmirz Stronczynski show how accurate they were.

Original from 1847.

Piece from the book collection of Tadeusz Kalkowski, with his ex-libris.

Binding of bookbinder, half leather in linen protective case.

Beautiful state of preservation, margins wide, pages clean, nice, also preserved the original paper covers of both the text part and the plates In the set with the book there are 3 pcs of "plates of Piast coins arranged according to excavations", and 3x "plate of Piast coins arranged according to the epoch of extraction"); other plates are unfortunately missing.
