Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: NGC MS65
Reference: Dutkowski 318 (R7), CNG 340.I, Friedberg 24, Kaleniecki 370, Kopicki 7649 (R4), Tyszkiewicz 14 mk

An exquisite piece of a ducat from the first year of their minting under King John Casimir.

A coin with untouched circulation relief and mint luster, as appreciated by the NGC, awarding it the highest grade for these coins, very rare for ducats of the time of Royal Poland.

Issued in the year of John II Casimir's coronation, it was struck with the stamps of the famous Danzig medallicist Jan Höhn the elder, at the mint managed by Gerhard Rogge.

A late type for this vintage, with a smaller, narrower royal portrait, also known from 1650.

A very rare variety with a three-leafed branch above the shield of the coat of arms, rated by Jaroslaw Dutkowski at a high rarity grade of R7.

A very rare denomination in this condition.

Recommended.
