"In addition, in 1929 the crisis began.... Czaplinski ... came up with an idea - discount tokens. He ordered tokens with the company's address on the obverse and the denomination on the reverse....
The customer, depending on the amount of purchases made, received the appropriate number of tokens....
Having armed a certain number of tokens, one could exchange them in the store for a small gift/premium - a pencil, eraser, notebook, blotter..."
