Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: VF
Reference: Garbaczewski (Ikonografia) 76, Kopicki -

A rare brakteat attributed to the Piasts of Mazovia or Kuyavia.

Interesting in terms of the ruler's gesture, which, according to Jaromir Homolka, symbolizes "power and love, which also brings the king closer to Christ."

Obverse: bust in front, with sword and raised left hand. In the rim BOLEZLAVS (misspelled Ovelzavus).

Undated, but well legible.

Silver, diameter 13.6 mm, weight 0.17 g.
