Grade: XF-
Reference: Ivanauskas-Cesnulis 5SA10-5 (RRR), Kopicki 3284 (R5), Tyszkiewicz 12 mk

The first type of the first vintage of Tykocin pennies. Characterized by the presence of the Jastrzębiec (Stanislaw Myszkowski) coat of arms on the reverse.

Being a heraldically controversial coin, as the Myszkowski coat of arms not only replaced the Pillars of Gediminas (the historical emblem of Lithuania), but was also placed by the engraver on a par with the royal monogram, under the prince's mitre! This may have been the main reason why the earlier iconography was quickly reverted to.

The type is noticeably rarer than the second type of pennies of this vintage (with the Pillars instead of Jastrzębiec), which was emphasized by Tyszkiewicz when he valued it 20x more expensive (12.00 mk versus 0.60 mk).

A very nice piece in uneven patina. With luster on the reverse. Natural.

Attractive for the type.
