Grade: F-VF
Reference: Drożdż 20 (R7), Raczyński 22, Demel 58

A very rare numismatic coin.

A countryman of the Vilnius mint from the time of Sigismund II Augustus, described by Kazimierz Drozdz as a royal treasury coin. Estimated by him at a high degree of rarity - R7 (6 pieces known).

A compositionally nice countryman, which Raczynski placed among the first Polish medals (item 22), seeing it as a commemoration of the 1569 Union of Lithuania with the Crown.

Obverse: crowned royal monogram SA separating the date 15-69, in a border, a wreath of lily flowers all around.

Reverse: crowned two-field escutcheon with Eagle and Pogo, a wreath of lily flowers all around.

Thick coating of natural patina, with characteristic copper green color. Dirt and corrosion in places, but no obvious damage. Readability good.

Copper, diameter 24.5 mm, weight 3.26 g.
