A very rare penny.

A coin with the Pilawa coat of arms in the shield, under the Eagle, which belonged to Balthasar Stanislawski - the Crown Treasurer, who died in 1610 (13 years before this coin was minted!). This is an issue on which, after a 7-year hiatus in minting (not counting the pennies with errors in the date), this coat of arms returns on the Sigismund III penny and later that year its place is taken by the Saxon coat of arms.

This is an intriguing item, on the subject of which, in the pages of his book, Zbigniew Kiełb (Coats of Arms of Officials... pp.131-142) wrote, among other things, that: "... Thus, it seems that we are dealing here with the unofficial production of groszes with the anachronistic Pilawa coat of arms, but already at the Bydgoszcz mint under the treasury of Mikolaj Danilovich...." Also presenting some interesting theories regarding the issuance of this "mysterious" 1623 penny.
