A prized and rare thaler coin of King Stefan, in beautiful state of preservation.
Batory's Nagyban thalers are an interesting issue. It is most likely the result of a loan taken by Batory in his native country, which was paid to him not in local money, but in a coin minted under his stamp - as King of Poland. Unfortunately, no documentation confirming this is currently known.
Piece with natural luster, in a nice, light patina. Very well struck, reverse stamped without cracking, a fairly common affliction of thalers of this vintage.
A rare numismatic piece in this condition.
