A very nice compositionally rare thaler of King Ladislaus.
Thaler from the vintage of changes at the Gdansk mint. Struck after Gerhard Rogge (G-R) took over the mint from Jakub Jakobson.
Variety with the royal bust small, not separating the rim line. Date cartouche plain (instead of decorative).
Difficult to obtain, rarely seen in the trade vintage. Has only appeared 1 time in our 20 year history.
Very nice presentation. The patina of an old collection. Gloss. No defects.
Silver, diameter 44.5 mm, weight 28.55 g.
Obverse: crowned bust to the right. In the rim an inscription started with a flower:
VLAD IIII D G REX POL ET SVEC M D LITV RVSS PRVSS.
Reverse: two lions holding the coat of arms of Gdansk standing on a cartouche with the date. Below them initials G-R, above them a wreath with two palm branches and a sprig of laurel. In the rim:
COIN ARGENTEA CIVITATIS GEDANENSIS
