Here is one of the ornaments of the auction!
An impressive and extremely rare Danzig thaler of Ladislaus IV. Distinguished from those thalers mainly by the cut of the Danzig lions - facing each other, not straight ahead!
A beautiful work by the prominent medallicist of the era - Höhn - different, among other things, because of the elaborate baroque console with the date, or the richly decorated wreath topped with a fig leaf.
The big highlight of this thaler, on the other hand, is a serious error in the reverse titling - GEDANE_SIS instead of GEDANENSIS.
The 1642 thaler vintage itself is one of the very rare ones in the trade. In the company's history to date, we have had it only 1 time. However, in this type, at auction in Poland, it appears for the first time!
Very nice, healthy, natural state of preservation. Light patina. Beautiful reverse.
Silver, diameter 43.3 mm, weight 28.74 g.
