A rare and very interesting value.
A 19th century forgery of the medal of Sigismund I the Old created at the instigation of Jozef Biernacki (information from the specialist - Lech Kokociński).
This medal was described by Bentkowski (Spis Medalów Polskich...), or present in excellent collections: the collection of Emeryk Hutten-Czapski, or the collection of Franciszek Potocki. As Raczynski points out,"it seems to have been cast according to the drawing in Lucka's work placed (Sylloge Numismat. elegantior. Argentinae. 1620)."
Type cast in bronze, with engraved inscription: VICT: AD OR SHAM AN 1514.
Obverse: bust of the king in cloak, cap and crown, facing right. In the rim:
SIGISM I REX POL MAGN DVX LIT RVS PRVS MAS SAM
ZIIWECHCE LAW.
Bronze, diameter 51.5 mm, weight 60 g.
