One of the rarest Cracow 3 groschen of Sigismund III.
A characteristic and equally mysterious issue, known only from a few, excellent collections (including Frankiewicz, Sobański).
3 groschen 1606 distinguished by the letter C in a circle placed under the royal portrait.
Very interesting, occurring only in this one type among all the numerous minted triplets in the Sigismund III mint in Cracow.
The letter C, which is most likely the mint mark, appears in Cracow in the years 1603-1604, but only on grosch coins. The letter K is marked on the 3 groschen, placed from the first year (1600) on the reverse. For unknown reasons, the letter C returns for a very short time (one type, known to us from the two dies on the obverse) in 1606, when the mint stopped using the rolling mill. This die was also used for equally rare grosch from this year.
For the first time in our offer.
