The date is known for a large number of varieties of the position of the sword and the number 16 in the date relative to it. Here the number is below the blade of the sword. Unusual inscription of the legend on the reverse, instead of the usual MONE / AVREA / IMPER / CIVIT / ZWOL. Erroneous spelling of the name of the emperor FARDIN instead of FERDIN, which – as mentioned in the description of the ducat from 1634 – is quite typical of the ducats of the Zwolle mint. On the obverse, the letter D is punched with letter I with a belly added, the letter H is punched in the form of two letters I joined with a dash. On the reverse, the letter W in ZWOL is punched in the form of two joined letters V, slightly larger than the other letters in the legend.
Mint, outstanding condition. The ducat is minted with fresh dies, which can be seen in the details of the emperor’s face on the obverse. A lot of gloss and clear, sharp details.
